LIZZIE,
I found info that you need. I agree with Peltz that after you get rid of this camera pill, however you do it, you need your small bowel motility tested.
Go onto Google. Type in: Small Bowel Motility Test...the first entry is Patient Information about
Antroduodenal Manometry or Small bowel Manometry. It tells how it is done. Sounds challenging but only takes 24 hours not 5 days.
Now Google: Small Bowel Motility Testing Centers. The first entry should be an IFFGDO (I forget exact letters, but is something like that) In the article is highlighted AMS REGISTRY. Click on that and it gives all testing centers that administer each type of test. The ADM test centers say "yes" in the 3rd column in from the right margin. ADM is the Antroduodenal Manometry (Small Bowel Manometry test)
Cleveland Clinic Ohio (I assume it's the Ohio branch you went to) has one in their pediatric department. Contact Dr. Rita Steffen 1-216-445-7564. Columbus Children's Hospital also has one. Contact Joy Beard 614-722-3420. I think the Univ of Iowa Doctor is Satish Rao, MD? Is that the name you were given. FOr that contact Mary Lamoreux or Mary Stessman 1-319-356-7782.
Dr. William Chey at the Univ. Of Michigan Ann Arbor has one. You contact Mark McDermott at 1-734-936-5567 (I think you live in Michigan, right?)
Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN has one too. Contact Shelly Olson 1-507-266-6932. Children's Hospital of Wisconsin has one Lu Majeski 1-414-266-6864
Lahey Clinic where I go does not have one. But Mass General in Boston does. Dr. Branden Kuo contact Janet King 1-617-724-6038
If you can't access all this on line, email me your address or your fax number and I can get them to you. My email is
[email protected]P.S. Lahey does do well with adhesions on small intestines and ileostomy stomas, but Peltz may be right and you may have a small bowel motility issue instead of or in addition to adhesions. But here is the Lahey Colorectal Dept. tel number if you want, but they do not have the ADM test: 1-781-744-8581 I went to Dr. John Coller (but he said today he was no longer doing major surgeries due to his back.) I told him briefly of your issue (not by name, but I said "a friend") and he said one of their New Doc's Jason Hall deals with adhesions and ileostomies now. Dr. Hall is new. He was a resident when I was there 2 years ago. I'm sure he would be very good, but the real guru of laporoscopic surgery is Dr. Peter Marcello, VERY experienced.
So here is some info that I hope will help. Rosemary
