HI I just joined today to ask a few questions.
My fiance had surgery 1 week ago today. He has been in the hospital for 13 days. We went in because he had severe stomach pain. They thought he had crohn's. Well we waiteed for the obstruction to heal itself but nothing was happening so they did a colonoscipy to see if it was crohn's. The results were 98% positive. Then they decided to go in and remove part of his small intestines. When they opened him up they found 2 perferations in his colon and removed part of it. Because of the inflamation they put on a temporary ostomy. Well they pulled the NG tube the day after surgery. He had some bowel movements. they said it was caused by diverticulitis. Then 2 days later he was so uncomfortable because of severe bloating that they put the NG tube back in. he had tons come out of the tube. Then they decided to clamp him on sunday. The bloating returned. They hooked him back up sunday night but not nearly as much came out. He is still feeling really bloated. His bowel movements have also extremley slowed.
Is this normal for it to take this long for everything to work?
Could something else be going on?
I am so frustrated and he is so depressed. Is there anything we can do to help relieve the bloating?
