Well, I went to the surgeon for a consult today hoping they would tell me they will do surgery to help me out and they will! I'm going to have a total proctectomy with end colostomy. Since my Crohn's is only in my rectum, she said that the best thing would be to get rid of my rectum and give me a colostomy. I think this sounds wonderful and I'm so excited to spend even 5 minutes without the constant BS that it this DD, let alone longer!
Now, healingwell is a fabulous resource for this sort of thing but I was wondering if anyone out there knew of any other resources that have a lot of good info that I can look at until my op? I am really looking for some sort of colostomy resources since I have been able to find a lot on ileostomy, but not really colostomy.
Has anyone had this done?? Advice? Your story?

You could try www.UOAA.org (United Ostomy Association of America) they have many links to all sorts of information.
There are also a few members here who have/had Colostomies for their Crohn's dx...I'm sure they'll chime in, too!

Have a look at
www.healingwell.com/pages/Ostomies/
for a list of some of the resources for ostomies that Healingwell recommends.
