sensitive scar after 3 years of colon cancer operation?

It has now been 3 years since my operation and resection but my scar (the long one) is still very red and sensitive to clothing.  Is this normal?  Also I still get days where my BMs are as frequent as 6 or 7 a day and am unsure whether it may be the food I'm eating.  Other than that I feel absolutely wonderful!!   Life is sooo good and I am so grateful to be back in good health!!   I am due for my first colonoscopy next month and can't help but feel a little apprehensive.

mine was sensitive for about a year but it hasn't bothered me for a while....I think scars can be bothersome for a lot of people:(

Occasionally my scar will itch but overall it hasn't given me much trouble.

However I do experience something odd about a scar - several times a year I develop a bump or hive, that will itch. It's very close to my ostomy scar (near my left ovary, the scar is about 2 inches long). My surgeon said he's never heard of a bump appearing near a scar that itches but then disappears for months at a time. I can always tell when I'm about to get this bump, my jeans feel tight in this area and sure enough, there it is.

But my colon resection scar (huge vertical scar, 6 inches long and with a wide divide, unlike the ostomy scar) has barely given me trouble.

I would ask your surgeon about it.
