Hello to all:

      I am 15 days post op from my surgery.   Did anyone when they had the totoal colecotmy have a lot of fluid that keeps leaking from the surgery site.   This has been going on since Monday, so I am hoping that it is going to slow down.

They gave me nothing when they discharged me from the hospital to keep my incision covered.  So I am stuck at home with no help what so ever and I was looking through my medicine box for some pads to place on my site so that it would not keep soaking my nighties... So the only thing I could find was a Old Not used...lol Menstral pad and taped to my incision, funny but it is working.

Still feeling like I have been hit by a bus and all the muscles hurt since they cut through all of them but the pain is managable now, as long as I keep my butt laying down and taking it easy.  I wish that I could sleep during the day, but my body will not relax enough for me to get my much need rest.

I really don't have any complaints about my surgery,,,except....I LOVE IT AND I KNOW IT IS ALREADY CHANGED MY LIFE FOR THE GOOD.

I eat a tiny amount every hour and drink tons of liquids, so I am finding it very exciting to eat without suffering.....So daily I think about what I want to eat next as I was not able to eat anything but Chicken Noodle Soup for over a year...  Guess what I wont eat now...Yup, you got it, not the noodle soup....way over it.

so having another enourgeing day...yipee life is getting good.  Bless you all...

I'd ask my doctor about the drainage if I were you. I didn't have any really. After my c-section, though, I did use a menstrual pad and just kept it tucked under my belly to catch any drainage. It worked really well. Good that you're already feeling better!

Hi Leslie,

So glad to hear how well your surgery went and that you are able to get up and around and finally have bms.  The fluid leaking though is not normal and you should call your dr.  Your incision should be dry, especially 15 days post op.  Please give him/her a call.

Praying things are ok.

Hey all, well actually the first burst of drainage was in the hospital with the doc on call for mine, was looking at my incision and she put on gloves and actually snagged a staple and out gushed probably over a pint of bloody,clear, yellow fluid and she said it was normal to have a build up after surgery.

Then it happend again at the docs office on the 3rd and he said it was normal, but it should start slowing down.

Still oozing today but not as much...got to lay down as the nausia is killing me...thanks for all of your ideas..Leslienono

Ron, thanks for the words of encouragement.  Had a pretty rough 2 days pain was out of control for some reason.  But doing a bit better today, but each day I know that I am getting a tiny bit better.  Never can nap though, even though I try just cant get a nap to save my soul.

I am so happy I had the surgey though, I can eat almost anything in sm. amounts.  Peppers and dairy give me heck so have to stay away from those for now.  Plus I am lactose intollerent but I took a dairy pill with my cereal yesterday just to see how dairy would act in me now....yikes not good too much gas even with the pill.  So live and learn I guess.  Hope you are well.  Lesliewink
