Back from my post op appt!

Hey all!

I'm back from my post op appt with my surgeon, 3 weeks after my proctocolectomy...he says I'm doing great! He's really pleased with my recovery and said my colon was the worst he's ever seen! GOOD RIDDANCE!!! He says I have no restrictions on what I can do, which is INSANE to me just 3 weeks after surgery. He gave me the ok to to back to work, but I am not strong enough to dance in 4 shows a day yet. I will give myself a few weeks to gain back my strength and also gain some weight (since I was so sick before the surgery...I'm like a skeleton...gross), and then it's off to work I go!! Wow. These 3 weeks have really gone fast. I'm tapering off my pred too--awesome! I've been on 40 for like 10 months and now I'm down to 15! Hooray!

This is great new!...enjoy your new found health...soon you will have more energy than you can ever remember having...and "good ridence" to the pred...HURRAY

That is just fantastic Stephanie! Going back to work after your surgery in only three weeks is incredible. Congrats!

Oh, I'm not going back to work yet even though he said I could. I'm shooting for the end of April. In the meantime I'm exercising and lifting weights and stuff to get my stamina and strength back!

Hooray!! So glad you're doing well. yeah What kind of cool job do you have where you get to dance 4 shows a day? Sounds like fun!

I agree that Pred is evil devil and needs to be stopped (or tapered) asap! smilewinkgrin

I work at the Magic Kingdom at Disney World. I'm scared to go back when it's this time of year--I'm going to be thrust into doing shows when it's SO HUMID AND HOT!! I'll be sure to drink LOTS.

10 mg of pred as of yesterday!!! WAHOO!!!! Too good to be true.

Steph,

GOOD FOR YOU !!!! But do drink LOTS of water as dancing in humid weather without absorption capacities of your colon to draw water back into your system could leave you dehydrated. I'd wait if I could until the worst of humidity is over. If possible. Again congrats on great recovery. Rosemary

LOL, if I wait until the worst is over I'll be going back to work in November. I'll be careful.
