Finallly have surgery scheduled

Hi Everyone! I haven't been on this site for alittle while , But I saw my colon/rectal surgeon today and I finally have surgery scheduled for the second week of june for a total instead of a subtotal. The doctor said I was to severe to just do the subtotal. I will be having it laprosopic and open because I have a lot of adhesions that need to be cleared out. I will be in the hospital for 5-7 days and I will have a NG tube for 3 days and a cath for 4 days. For pain control I will have a epidural for 3 days then a pain pump for 4 days. He says as long as I don't get any infections that I should do well(I HOPE). My doctor says that I seem to be very knowledgeable with the proceedure and I have to thank everyone from the post because I didn't know anything about CI. So thank you to everyone.I will keep you all posted.

Dianna    Hey girl, that sounds good to me...  I am so happy that your having a total colectomy.  I have some really good news for you.....I FEEL GREAT AND SO HAPPY I GOT MINE...  I am 2 months out now and doing wonderful,,,,,as your going to feel when you get done.  I don't know if you remember me saying this but " as soon as I woke up from recovery and on the way to my room, I knew I felt better right away.  Sounds strange to some but you know the sick feeling you always have every day of going through this was gone"

 

I could hardly believe it myself but I felt good right away.  Now since your having it lap...you will have a quicker recovery than I did but by week  3 I was  out of pain...so you will be out of pain so much quicker.

 

The second week in June, Dianna, you are going to get your life back.  YIPEEE, I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU....GIRL...  Today I am going to go to my son's Ranch and play with my grandson and have a BBQ,  my energy is still low but gets better every day.  So have to hit the shower and run...you take care and keep us in the loop as I always love hearing from you.  We all shall be praying for you constantly ..so if you have any questions I am here for you and will answer anything I can....

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for the well wishing. I found out today my surgery will be on june 10th. I am so happy to finally have this done, after 10 years of hearing there is nothing wrong it really helps to have a Doctor who finally believes you. I know that the closer I get to the day I will be more nervous I will be. So I have been eating pretty much whatever I want right now because I know that I will lose weight after suegery. I wanted my surgery in june becasuse I get more vacation time to take. i will keep everyone updated. I go on June 7 for preop.

I wish you the best sweetie and your plan of care sounds great for pain control and comfort....i will be praying for an uneventful quick recovery. Build up that strength with lotd of protein for healing. I am so happy you have your date and I will keep you in prayer. I have surgery this Friday In Cleveland, but I will be checking in on you....best of luck honey.

Lizzy, I will be keeping you in my prayers. You have been through so much. I hope that you have a speedy recovery. What type of recovery time do you have?
