Yep, this is normal. Give it until around the 21st then give them a call. They train you well in the use of the appliance prior to your leaving the hospital so no worries there. Just go easy with food and all should be good. Best wishes, Rosemary

     Stephanie....yes, I passed the stress echo.  The nurse phoned me yesterday.  I gave her the fax number for the surgeon's office.

     Still no word from colorectal surgeon.  I have oodles of questions.  No one told me what kind of prep to take..nothing!!!!  I phoned my surgeon's assistant and left a message on his voicemail about an hour ago.  It is now 2:15 pm here in Jersey.  I have to tell them that I am now on medicine to control my blood sugar.  Down to 20 mgm of prednisone hoping to cut that down to 10 mgm by Saturday and maybe to 5 by the time of my operation.  Just keeping my fingers crossed I don't flare.  UC wise I feel great...no bleeding, finally have "normal" looking stool.  Don't remember stool being this formed since beginning of January! Only go once or twice a day.

     Tracy said she received a list of meds she cannot take one week prior to her operation.  Well, where the heck is MY list????  I'm an old lady for cryin out loud.  Maybe they just don't give a rat's behind.  Having all sorts of second thoughts here.   Should have gone to another surgeon for another opinion????? UGH!  It isn't like I am a pain in the butt to these people.  The last time I phoned their office was three weeks ago when I started flaring when down to 7.5 mgm of prednisone.  They said to increase the prednisone in order to stay out of the hospital and take the rectal meds, which I did.

OMG, Christine. I have been following all of your posts. I know you must be stressed out to the extreme. First of all, lets get one thing straight ... you are not OLD!!! ;) ... now ... don't settle for messages ... keep calling until you reach someone. I did all the time. Trust me, I just got a message two minutes ago for my barium enema prep tomorrow stating that I need to do a full prep for this exam ... meanwhile I have a diverted ileostomy so all I need to do is an enema ... great! I called my surgeon 3 times till I got in touch with him to find out what I had to do and he told me. He was actually pissed that they gave me the wrong info. Call, call, call ... keep calling until you get the answers you need. Waiting around and just worrying is going to make you feel even worse. You are working yourself into a frenzy here. I am not downplaying your situation. I know you have a few med issues that need to be remedied. I can't even imagine what your husband must be saying about you on this site ;).
