was able to contact surgeon's assistant today

     Since I didn't hear back from the office yesterday, I decided to give it another shot this morning and was able to speak to the surgeon's assistant.  Good thing too!!!  I had to tell him I was placed on medicine for Type 2 diabetes this week because the prednisone really shot my sugar up.  But the important thing is.....I am now down to 20 mgm of prednisone and was going to taper down to 15 tomorrow.  He said not to do that because they don't want me flaring going into surgery.  Whenever I would get down to about 7.5 mgm...wham...bleeding, urgency, pain.  So, they want me to stay at the 20 mgm of prednisone and hopefully, after surgery they can ween me off the prednisone...yaaaaa!!!

     I am not on any blood thinner and that is a med they would want to stop a week ahead of time.  Next Thursday I go in for all the pre-op stuff and meet with the ostomy nurse.

I bet that helped to settle the anxiety!! Glad you got some answers...have a good weekend and make a list, of any other questions that might come up, for when you have your pre-op appointment. Once they're on paper your mind can relax!!!

     Yes, I am able to breathe a bit better now..lol.  OHIO....you read my mind.  I told my husband today that tomorrow I am making a list of all the questions I want to ask next Thursday.

     Scrapgirl...how was your condition following surgery?  How long were you hospitalized?  I won't be having the j-pouch but the perm ileo.
