I had my ileostomy take down on Thursday and I just got home from the hospital about
an hour ago. So excited and blessed not to have the "bags" anymore. I had been struggling with the ileostomy bag over the last 6 wks. My husband made a phone call to my doctor on Monday and they had me back in the hospital on Tuesday afternoon. The were doing the barium enema to check for any possible leaks on Wednesday and I had the surgery on Thursday and I came home today (Saturday). I was so surprised to be able to come home this quickly especially before actually having a "BM". But once I got home I had a small "BM" and was so excited, it's been 8 mths. Never been so excited to have a "BM".
Just wanted to know about
any info any of you may have on what I should expect now. They didn't give me any eating/diet restrictions just told me to take stool softeners, Miralax or MOM if needed and I should be good to go. I do still have a LPA drain for about
a week to drain any fluids from my wound.
Thanks for any info and for all of the previous info all of you have given me over the past few months.
