Ok, the ostomy nurse came to my room and helped me change my pouch. She had to remove this plastic rod from my stoma and it was stitched in and the stitches had to be snipped and removed. OUCH, this hurt so bad, not my stoma, but the skin around the stoma. Then, with the pouch off, the stoma started shooting crap everywhere. YUCK I got all hot and felt faint when I looked down at the stoma because it was moving all around and appeared to be breathing. OMG I did not expect that. I lived through the pouch change and did most of it by myself, but still feel very uncomfortable.
My stoma is also producing tons of brown liquid....when will this slow down? I have to drink constantly to try and keep up with the output. I have eaten crackers, bread, applesauce to try and thicken it up at doctors orders. It is still shooting out like crazy. My doctor may have me try immodium, but I am a little worried about
taking it so soon after surgery.
PS. Thanks for any advice. Tracy
