My next surgery.

im about a month away from getting surgery 2 out of 3. im taking the bag ok i dont really have too many problems but it has kept me bored all summer. but i managed to get about 62 hours of gaming in hahaha. anywho my question is what should i expect for my next surgery? "all i have had was my colon removed all the way and the next surgery the connecting everything but ill still have my bag."

Hey Adam, I am not sure exactly what the 2nd surgery entails, but if you go to youtube.com and type in ucvlog, there is a guy named Dennis that made several videos about ulcerative colitis. He goes over the 3 steps of the j-pouch surgeries and also many more videos about how to take care of the ileostomy, etc. Hope this helps....Tracy

I had the 2 step surgery, so 1 and 2 were combined into the first step, so I don't really have any advice as to what the recovery from step 2 will be like. It will easier than step 1, though, I would think, and you seem to be doing very well after that.

Adam, I'm having step 2 of 3 in mid-September and I'm expecting to be in the hospital about one week. I don't know if your's was lapro but mine was not so I'll have to be opened up again. Not looking forward to that recovery again. I remember my surgeon saying that the second surgery is easier than the first because you are already used to having the appliance. Why have you been bored though? Your bag shouldn't stop you from doing the things you were doing before.

I have my next on august 30. and yeah i have to get a ok size cut down my tummy again, recovery sucks but since when is it ever fun haha.


im only bored because my parents "mom" thinks ill rip my gut open or get hurt doing something stupid. the only thing i can really do is sit around the house all day or go to some local stores.

Yea that's pretty much all I do right now. I'm doing some online college classes and learning computer programming, Visual Basic.NET for one of my online classes and C#.NET so I can learn to make games in XNA.
