Appetite with ileostomy

Before my ileostomy, I was sick alot and did not have an appetite and I ate very little. Since having the ileostomy, I am STARVING and constantly hungry. My output is right at or right over 1200cc per day. I have been drinking plenty of water, more than I have ever drank in my life.... :-)

I also quit smoking the same day I had my surgery, June 21, 2010....so, not sure if this is contributing to my enormous appetite or not?

I have been walking more everyday as my energy is increasing and sitting around the house is so boring....

I feel so much better and healthier since having the ileostomy and I am happy about that...but, I don't want to get fat either. confused

yeah i ate like a crazy person at first! everything i could find that i couldnt eat before, and boy did i start to show it, lol.
I was exercising at first and i could eat whatever cause the exercise was counteracting it, then i quit the exercsing!
So now i took the exercise back up and cut out some of the food and i am losing the weight again.
Its a def balancing act, and its soooo hard when you can finally eat its so exciting!

Eat your heart out for a little while...we've all done it!!

Just know that there aren't any tricks to losing it when the time comes...it takes hard work and determination to eat better and exercise...calorie intake appropriate to your activity (deficit calories) is really the only way to lose:(
