When I went to change my bag tonight, a hollister 2 piece,....after I pulled the bag off, my husband had big ole bug eyes.....he was horrified at what he was seeing. At the bottom of my stoma, the skin is GONE and it is bloody and burned up.
I took a piece of that putty stuff and rolled a piece like a snake and applied it around the bottom of the stoma and then put the adapt stoma paste on the wafer before we stuck it on my skin. I am worried I may have clogged the mucous hole? Is that possible? The poop seems to be moving fine into the bag though.
It burned, but I still put the nystatin powder and allkare wipe on it 3 times, like I was told to do. I put on a convatec bag with the moldable wafer, but I am not sure if we applied it right because the stoma was getting active and we had to hurry.
Convatec sent me some samples.
As far as I can see, it looks like the poop must have leaked through somehow. My hole is at the bottom of my stoma, facing totally down. I guess we didn't put enough adapt paste at the bottom of the wafer last time.
I am worried about
my skin and am thinking I may need to go see the stoma nurse??? Is the barrier spray better than the allkare wipes? What can I do better to prevent this from happening in the future?
On a good note, the yeast looks like it has cleared up and other than the place below the stoma, the rest of the skin looks good.
