Colostomy Reversal

I really want to have my colostomy reversed. I have had it now for 1.5 years. My doctor wants me to wait until I am done with university. That is about 2 years from now. I think she is just hoping that by then I wont want the reversal anymore. I feel though that I would rather have it done now have to take a semester off school again than wait till I graduate have a job then the possibility of quitting.

I got my colostomy because I was having such a large number of abscesses. I was having surgery for them every month for a while then I got my colostomy and haven't been to the hospital since. Though I hate it, mostly because of the way it shows under all my clothes. I also can't get a guy to come within 10 yards of me once they find out. I was not one of the people who was running to the bathroom every few minutes unless I was in relapse, it was just the abscesses. The thought was that if I was able to let my colon and rectum rest it would get better and it seems it has.

Here's my question. Does anyone have an opinion of when I should get it done. Now or once I graduate from university. Second, I have looked online and all I can find are peoples horror stories about how once they had the reversal they were going to the bathroom more and had an osotomy again. I just want to know will I most likely end up with an ostomy again, should I go for it an get it reversed like I want to. Does anyone have a positive reversal story and have not ended up in hell?
