I have had my end ileostomy since June 19th, so about 6 weeks. I have not noticed and change in size whatsoever. I was told by the WOC nurse in the hospital that it would change weekly until it gets to a size that it will stay at. Did anyone else have a similar experience with their stoma?

mine started at 41 mm, then every week it shrunk in about 2 mm. i'm 3 weeks post loop ileo surgery. yesterday i changed my wafe and measured my stoma - 35 mm. so what size is yours?

I had my perm. ileo on June 28th. This is the first week that I noticed it is getting a tad smaller. It measured 1 1/4 in for the first four weeks. Now it is just a bit smaller.

My size changed for the first month or so. Sometimes it can get bigger with irritation, and it can also protrude more. It kinda freaked me out at first, but the dr told me to gently push evenly over the bag and it would go back in and it did. After the first 6 weeks or so, it stopped moving and changing size.

My loop ileo was HUGE, lol. It looked like a small tomato on my stomach. I dunno if the size of the stoma counts when the stick thing is still in but it measured about 1 3/4 inches. Now it is only slightly smaller than an inch. o_O

I have been cutting my flange just inside the 1 1/2 circle from the beginning. There might be a little bit more gap between the base of my stoma and the wafer now as compared to when I very first had the surgery. Maybe I was just unclear about how much it would shrink. Thanks for the responses.
