Surgery went well ... guess what ... he gave me an END ileo :)
I walked quite a bit already tonight and it helped get rid of some trapped gas.

I've been on it for a month now and it does seem to be helping. I am tapering off the prednisone, so I had a bad week where I was going every hour again, but yesterday and today things have slowed down again. I don't think the Humira is enough to put me into remission but I am leading a pretty normal life right now (well normal for me anyway--I can deal with frequent bathroom trips and am used to it). I may be able to go to once a week injections instead of every other week though

Good morning!
Docs said I'm doing pretty well, they just want to make sure my output isn't too high before discharging me. So they're going to keep an eye on me this morning and then mke a decision to send me home or not later today :)
Stoma nurse visit today, I can't wait to change this appliance!!! For some reason Convatec just doesn't do well with me.

Good news. Praying for you to improve everyday. I have never used Convatec. I like the Hollister one piece with filter.

Make sure they keep you on IV fluids when you have high output and ask the doctor to have the nurses measure your input and output. They made the mistake of unhooking my fluids too soon, and I ended up extremely dehydrated and had to spend a few days in ICU. Just wouldn't want that to happen to you! :-)

I'm homeeeeee !!!!!!! :)
So, first of all never thought I would be this happy to have a stoma. I feel like I've regained almost 2.5 hrs of my life each day from sitting on the toilet. That's more time to enjoy my daughter .... life!!!
My stoma is shrinking really quickly ... and facing down ... which has me a little worried but I'm sure it'll be ok with some convexity.
Stoma nurse changed my appliance to the Hollister and it fits SOOO much better :)
Still some pain in my abdomen area ... as expected, glad to be back in my bed!

Yay, so glad that you are home. My stoma also faces down and when I saw the stoma nurse, she recommended a convex wafer and it has made a world of difference. I prefer the Hollister too. You had a stoma before, right?

You know, I am also thrilled with my stoma due to all the time it is has saved me. I was spending 3 to 6 hours per day on the toilet pre-stoma and now it is maybe 30 minutes a day. I even changed my bag all by myself for the 1st time today and it only took me 20 minutes. It helps that my stoma seems to have settled at 7/8 inch and I can now order precut wafers. I hated having to cut the wafers....

Can you have your end ileostomy reversed?

Ye I kept the JPouch in just incase I wasn't happy with the ileostomy .... but for some reason I don't see myself going back anytime soon.
I just want to live my life now and take a break from it all.
