Too hot to heat up the oven for a chicken dinner and our "gang" is coming for dinner. My grandkids want "mommom's sandwich". That is a sandwich made to their particular order on rolls from our local bakery (DelBuono's...the best!). Daughters and their significant others want hoagies but hubby and I love cheesesteaks with fried onions. I can't remember the last time I ate one and it is almost eight weeks since my operation...maybe if I chewed extremely carefully I could eat a tad of it?

Sure, if you chew it well and drink plenty of fluids, you'll be fine! Have fun! :-)

eat it! eat the whole thing, just chew well!
Maybe take some gas-x before you eat it, to help with the gas it might cause

Well, I had a few bites and it was too stringy. I figured, better be safe than sorry . So I will opt for something else for dinner.

Chris I think you're smart to be conservative. I am working to expand my diet after THREE WHOLE YEARS! Got bored eating gush.

There must be a happy medium between me and those whose motto is GO FOR IT regarding food.

It is a continual learning curve for all of us. Though I must admit, the thought of your almost-meal made me salivate. :-) Have a great visit with your gang.

I went to Santa Fe restaurant the other day and had a medium rare 12oz new york strip with a sweet potato and a nice Guinness Draught. Best steak ever.

Medium rare steak? I won't eat anything unless it is very dead. The rest of the family enjoyed their hoagies. I made a ham, cheese and turkey sandwich for myself. I was brave and tried a nice Jersey tomato too....mmmm, it was soooo good. I do miss my Jersey corn on the cob though..oh well, small price to pay. We have a close friend with a feeding tube in his stomach due to esophagus erosion from radiation. Poor soul will never be able to eat again, so I count my blessings.
I'm making gawumki for dinner tomorrow...Polish stuffed cabbage. I tried some at the shore and had no issues .

<-Alberta girl.....cut a piece off the cow, throw it on my plate and if it's still mooing....even better!
I had to go vegetarian for 2 years leading up to Oscar because my body could no longer handle meat. Worst 2 years of my life!

I have seen it spelled golobki in polish meat stores. I am 100% polish. My wife is from England and makes great golobki (?). Just cook it good and remove the stringy hard center of the leaves. Tried some leftover just steamed. Ate the center. I was very sorry.....
