Haven't seen you for awhile and just wondering how you are doing. Have your issues (very similar to mine) resolved themselves? Did you see a new colorectal surgeon?
Today I am bleeding again from my vagina. My surgeon believes this is all due to the surgery but ordered at CT scan of the pelvic and abdomen. He also wants the CD. His assistant called on Friday and said I had scar tissue but no signs of a mass or fistula. I have a lot of discomfort and still feel like I have to poop out my butt...very annoying feeling. My gyn doctor wrote a script for me to have a transvaginal ultrasound but with everything that is going on down there, plus the fact that when my gyn doctor gave me an internal, it was very painful. I will call him on Tuesday and ask if the CT scan was sufficient. I know my surgeon didn't like the idea of me even getting a PAP smear because he said it was too soon after surgery. As it turned out, I was too sore for the gyn doctor to do the PAP smear anyway.
I asked my surgeon why he didn't sew my anus shut and he said there are more complications in people who have their anus sewn shut...but what the heck do you call my problems? LOL!

Thanks Rosemary. I do hope they resolve themselves. I bled yesterday and today feel a lot less pressure in the anus. So, hopefully, that is the problem...when the pressure from the blood builds up, that is what causes the discomfort. I suppose it is a good thing when the blood comes out, even though it comes out through the vagina. It isn't foul smelling or anything like that. I will call my surgeon tomorrow and may be able to see him on Wednesday. That way he can read the CD for himself. His assistant, although very efficient, sometimes gives me the wrong info. For instance, when I spoke with him before my operation, he told me to take the Miralex (or is it Miraflex?) prep the day before my operation, however, when I saw my surgeon for the pre-op visit, he said he doesn't require his patients to take a prep prior to the total colectomy and perm ileo. All he said was to stay on a clear liquid diet for 24 hours. Needless to say, his assistant looked a tad embarrassed, but I didn't say anything.
I am going to try to get out of that transvag. ultrasound too. I believe if there were anything wrong it would have shown up in the CT scan, wouldn't you? Especially, since I am soooo sore down there right now.

christine i have been following your story with a lot of interest and i am sorry you are still having  so many problems i do hope the bleeding  and discharge stop soon so you can get on with your life .

i am in the process of deciding when to schedule surgery for a colectomy and asked my surgeon why he wasnt going to take my rectum and sew me up ?

he said to do this would entail much longer surgery and can cause many complications as he would have to enter the pelvic area and to remove the rectum can cause bladder problems and apparently loss of pelvic floor support , so maybe your surgeon has done you a favour by leaving the rectum and he also mentioned that if it were to cause problems later on they could always remove it . just thought i would share his thoughts with you , hope you get relief soon christine best wishes jackarat
