2much2bear, My doctor recommended water enemas twice a week to see if this would help my rectum "remember" what it is supposed to do. Sadly, the enemas give me rectal spasms for days afterwards and I have found that not doing them at all is better for me as I can go weeks with no urge to rid myself of the mucous anyway. Besides, the mucous is very little.
Could you just sit down and poop the mucous out on your own, or did you need to use water enemas?
Do you have obstructive defecation syndrome?
My skin above my stoma is bulging and my doctor said this is a parastomal hernia. It is about the size of half an orange??? Looks a little strange....I will post pictures and give you the link to go see over the weekend if you would like to see it. I am very upset to be having this set back. I FEEL SOOOOO GOOD since the surgery and I feel this is threatening my newfound health.
I am so glad to read that you are having better days. I hope you continue to do better and start to look forward to your life without an ostomy.
Thanks so much, Tracy
