Morning everyone!
I am scheduled for my first sigmoidoscopy this morning and am really nervous.
I had to give myself an enema this morning through my stoma. I was apologizing like crazy to Oscar....and then....nothing. It didn't hurt (previously had 2 rectal draining fistula's, enema's were scary!!), It was all over in 10 minutes and I am now thinking what the heck am I so nervous for? A lot of people with colostomy's actually do this on a regular basis so they can just wear a cover and not a whole pouching system. Maybe I'll look into that.
The appt. is at 12:15pm with the procedure at 1:15pm. Wish me luck, and I will be sure to report what happens!

I am such a baby!!!
I went into admitting, was shown to my bed, undressed, they took my blood pressure, wheeled me into the "theatre", Dr.Wong inserted his finger into my stoma, scoped for all of 2 minutes, declared my colon was "beautifully healthy" with no sign's of Crohn's and sent me on my way, I was wheeled back to my area, dressed and left......all in an hour. I have NEVER EVER been in a hospital where I wasn't given at least an IV. I'm stunned and over the moon that finally after 33 years I have been given a clean bill of health. Unreal.

YAY ALLIE AND OSCAR!!!
I loved this story and loved reading it on your blog too. I am so glad you are healthy and so glad this wasn't bad.
I can't believe the dr putting his finger in your stoma equals a sigmoidoscopy! LOL
And the best part...obviously...no diarrhea upon waking up! At my last scope, I had diarrhea all over the bed when I woke up cuz they wouldn't let me go to the bathroom fast enough. That was a week before my surgery. So glad I won't ever have to do that again!!!

Thanks Stephanie!
I am constantly amazed at how having a stoma has made everything so much easier.
Dr. Wong put his finger in my stoma first and then used the scope, but really it only took a few minutes and was really easy and pain free. You and Zoe are going to be flabbergasted when you have to do it!!
