Does this sound like pouchitis?

Hi everyone...Hope all is well.  I had j pouch surgery last Oct and was reversed this past Feb.  I have had about 5 obstructions since then but have been feeling great for the past couple of months.  Yesterday out of nowhere, I went to the restroom and pooped out bright red blood.  It gushed out of me as if someone opened up a faucet.  It happened again half hour later with no pain either time.  The bleeding become less throughout the day and then went away by evening.  I went to bed fine and woke up this morning with a very upset stomach.  The pain I feel is similar to a bowel obstruction.  I don't have a fever and I am no longer bleeding.  I am able to poop normally (normal for a jpoucher) at times and then I can't go.  I called the on call dr and he ordered cipro and told me to try it for today.  If my symptoms get worse, I need to go into the ER.  If they get better, to continue on Cipro.  Does this sound like pouchitis to anyone?  I've never had it before and not sure if I'm missing something.

HELLO,  sorry to hear that your not doing well.  I have had a total colectomy with a J-Pouch, so I was reconnected.  Now having a battle with my place of the connections, they have narrowed.

 Pouchitis is an inflammation of the lining of this pouch. This complication occurs in up to half of people who have this operation.

There can be bleeding but it its pouring out of you ...then you should seek medical attention.

I have had a few blood clots come through one day and they made me go to ER immediately to make sure nothing had come undone, they kept me over night for observation.  So if you continue to pass blood get checked out.  Always better to be safe than sorry.  Hope you get feeling better..
