Thought this was funny and just had to share. Some of you are aware that my "former" GI doctor did NOT send me to the colorectal surgeon. I had to find one on my own. Thank GOD for the internet. All the GI doctor wanted to keep doing is trying different meds. At my last visit to him, @May 5th, 2010, I dropped the bomb that I decided on surgery. He looked at me as though I had three heads. He told me he felt like he had "failed me". Sheesh...after twelve years on meds for ulcerative proctitis. He still wanted me to go back to the GI doctor at the Univ of PA whom he referred me to in Sept of 09. All that guy did was talk about himself and the articles he wrote for the Physician's Journal, or some crap like that.
Long story short, I wondered why no one in that GI's office hadn't phoned me. I was especially close with one of the nurses. She phoned me yesterday to wish me a Merry Christmas and tell me she missed me and if everything was ok. When I called her back, she had NO idea that I had had the surgery!!! The resident surgeon had called my former GI doctor the day after my operation but he NEVER told his staff. His nurse thought I had taken his advice and went over to the GI doctor at the Univ of Pa. The GI's office never received a letter from my surgeon because I referred myself..lol. My family doctor was the only one to receive a letter. Anyway, this goes to show how pompous some doctors can be. Needless to say, I will never return to that GI doctor but I am glad I had the opportunity to speak with his nurse.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a happy, healthy 2011.
