ileostomy reversal

I had a bowel resection 12 weeks ago due to a colorectal mass that was in fact, endometriosis.  I am due to have my ileostomy reversed in 5 days.  I don't know what to expect.  I don't know how they do the procedure.  I've been told that I will probably only be in the hospital 3-5 days.  Can anyone please give me advice as to what to expect, what to do to make recovery easier?  Also,  with my ileostomy it comes up to a mound above my skin, is this going to go away once they reverse it? 

 

I just joined the forum tonight.  I will appreciate any help anyone can give me.

From what others have told me is to bring the baby wipes and use those for the first couple of days.
Also rash cream. I can't remember the name off the top of my head but it is some kind of rash cream they sell with the baby diapers and stuff.

Umm, and to take it easy with the foods for the first couple of weeks.

That's all I can think of now :/
