Thank you so much, Yes I would like to have your e-mail address for her.   She is fine with that.  I think that will help her alot to have someone around her own age to talk with about this.  She has been very sick over the last few days.  Monday  can't come fast enough.

Worried Mom you are in the right place to get the proper support, assistance and guidance to help you. Say as little as possible to your friends who do not understand to keep you from getting upset.

Most people have no clue and no idea how horrible this is and when you reach the point you need/want the surgery it's the right thing to do for yourself.

Rachel how wonderful for you to make this offer and your Mom as well. This will be a tremendous help and such valuable support.

Good luck to your precious little girl and you too. Once the surgery is over and she is recovering what a difference and relief you will have. The entire process will take awhile but this pain and discomfort is different in that it is "healing pain" and easier to accept and adjust to.

Worried Mom...yes please let us know how she is doing. I just posted a reply to another post regarding your daughter. My son's story has been on this board for a while. Draw from these wonderful and supportive folks. We did, and it has made a world of difference just knowing what you are going through is not insurmountable, and others are going through and have been through it and so much more! We moms get our strength from our children and the need and drive to see them well again...

Thinking of you today as your daughter goes through surgery. She is lucky to have such a loving and supportive mom to help her get through this. I am 38 years old, and my mom still flew in from out of state to help me and my husband for a couple of weeks after my surgery in November. She helped me change my pouch, cooked for me and even helped comfort me through a few tears. There is nothing like having your mom at your side during tough times:)

Hoping that today went well. Make sure to get your daughter up and walking even though it will be the last thing she wants to do. Here's to every week getting better and better and seeing her health return!

Worried Mom - I'm elddiReMsihT's mom and I can certainly sympathize with all you're going through. Three weeks ago we headed to the Cleveland Clinic for the first of her 3 surgeries. We were all scared to death! After the surgery the doctor told us that we made the right decision - her colon was very diseased. She would never have been able to get on with her life - we found that out when she tried to go to college. This made the decision - UC would never leave her alone. We've chosen to take this year to go through the three surgeries (last one will be in July) and to help her regain her health. I think our only regret is that we allowed her to suffer through four awful years before making this decision. We're looking forward to sending a healthy daughter off to college next year - one who can enjoy the whole college experience. My daughter and your daughter can now say that they no longer have UC - what an amazing thing! Let me know if I can be of support to you.

Worried Mom--I hope things went well. Please let us know how things went. Hopefully she is walking today. She won't want to but make her. It will make her recovery easier. I am 44 years old and my parents stayed with me after my husband went back home with our daughter. They were always pushing me to walk. It was annoying, but I did it and felt better.

Hi everyone,
Surgery went well. It took four and a half hours. Her surgeon said even her outside of her colon was inflamed.
She is doing very well. We got home this evening. Woke up Monday after surgery around 10:30 and cried and said she was so happy her stomach didn't hurt anymore. The next day her color started coming back, and wanted food. Of course they wouldn't let her. The doctors were amazed how quick she bounced back. Still in some pain but over all doing pretty good. At first had problems with the bag but getting better with it. She said it is better then running to the bathroom all the time. Just want to thank everyone for their support. Any suggestions for her recovery would be appreciated.

Now you need to take the "worried" off of your name. Congratulations and the best to your daughter. Nowhere to go now but up.

I'm sure you will keep us posted. When she is up to it have your daughter tell us how she feels.

So glad that this step is now behind you and you are moving forward. As for suggestions on recovery?.....get her up and WALKING and then WALK some more. It is the best medicine.

That is so great!!! Did she have the two or three step? I know it's pretty icy still there, but we should get some warm weather so when it melts take her on short walks.

So happy to hear from you and that things went so well.

Good morning everyone,

Out first night at home went ok, up alot . Still in pain but doing good. She had a two step. The surgeon said 6-8weeks and he will go in and do the take down. I am thinking more towards 8 weeks, as long as she is healed. Don't want to rush it. Thanks for all the support. Not so worried mom anymore.
