I had my colon and rectum removed 20 years ago. Except for blockages the first year, it has been smooth going for me. I recently noticed that I have a tear in my anus which was sewn shut. It itches and burns and is becoming quite sore. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Not to me...what does your doc say?
Have you tried Calmoseptine Lotion to ease the pain?

I have an appointment at the end of the month to see a colon/rectal surgeon. My original doctor from 20 years ago has retired. I haven't had reason to see any doctors in regard to my surgery in 19 years. Hope this new doctor can help me.

Welcome, MH1943,
I haven't had this happen to me, either. I hope your new C/R surgeon will be able to help you (without surgery, of course!)
So glad to hear you've had 19 good years! Yay for that!!!

I haven't had it happen, but I was just at my ostomy support group meeting last week and there is a guy who has had his ostomy for 45 years, and his incision just recently
opened up...so I guess it can happen!
