new to ostomy bag big problems

Hi all,

My mom just got an ostomy bag, My mom just got an ostomy bag after a bowel surgery complication. We had a leak in her bowel after surgery and went septic so now she has a bag. the problem is none of the nurses can get the bag to stay on not even for a day. they have use all different bags one piece, two piece, paste, power, wafers you name it they tried it and the bag wont stay on. Now the second problem is that the skin around the bag is raw from taking it on and off so much. Any suggestion would be amazing.

Are they ostomy (wotc) nurses? Is her stoma above her skin or below?

Are the bags they are currently trying all from the same manufacturer. It could be that she is allergic to that type of adhesive and may be good idea to try a different manufacturer and see of that makes a difference.

For the moment though the skin needs to be protected to allow it to heal. There are barrier wipes and creams and think available in a spray that will not sting but will provide a very thin barrier over the skin to allow it to heal.

You need to make sure the nurses are proper trained stoma care nurses so they have access to the latest appliances.
