Thanks Doreen for the tid bit about the lapro I definitely will want to go that route and the colorectal surgeon is suppose to be awesome he teaches the lapro techniques and my urogyno surg said his skills are exceptional and coming from him that is high praise so I await my consult ;-)
This morning I was messing with my own head again about wanting surgery going really is this what comes down to, what kind of gets me is that it's so final no back up plan I'm usually a big back up planner but none here.....

Also I am hoping that today your feeling much better then yesterday!!! ;-)

Sue thanks for the info I need to compile a list of questions to ask when I go in one of my biggest concerns is having to have a separate surgery after the fact if my rectum gets bad it's not right now.

Okay this might be a silly question but wondering if everyone else's hands were as beat up as mine are now between going to the bathroom all the time and my kids all the hand washing is destroyning my hands they are horrible they crack and bleed alot even when I am putting lotion on them :-(

Yeah I have that problem with my hands but I think it had something to do with something other than handwashing it got a whole lot better after surgery like right away and at first there is a lot of emptying and hand washing

Remember that you aren't just getting your kidsabetter mom you are getting a better you for you. If that makes sense. My husband and I can go out and do things now like out with friends for dinner or to a movie or a concert. My son spends the night with mamaw wcery Friday night so that's when we go out. We get along much better now. That was something I hadn't even thought of when I chose surgery.

Summerstorm you make such a good point this has been such a strain on my relationship with my husband and being healthy for us as well would be so great he says that once we get through this we'll be able to go on trips and we're gonna take a vacation and I miss going out with my friends and dancing having a good time I miss so much!!! I look foward to the day I can wake up and say let's go to breakfast and leave the house right then!

Ask your GP for a cream for ezcema, I use one called cetraban (I'm in UK) and it doesn't sting and isn't a steroid either. Only need to use it a few times when skin is cracked or sore and clears it up brilliantly. I have decanted it into bottles in both bathrooms and by kitchen sink so can always put on after washing hands as it comes in huge pump dispenser bottle.

Dee, that day will come for you when you are able to just up and go out as you please without having to give a thought to where is the nearest bathroom! It really is a much better life but as I said in an earlier post it does come with some tough times early on but I boiled that down to learning all about having an appliance and when the swelling goes down and the stoma size changes you can sometimes spring a leak, but now it takes me all of about ten minutes in the morning to change my pouch and off I go, it is fantastic. Apart from the constant adhesions that I get life is good.

Thank you Doreen for positive thoughts! Will your adhesions always be like this or do they eventually soften up? I'm thinking of you and being great as u said and then having this uncomfortable problem... Praying for comfort for you ;-)

Does having a bit of a lower tummy pooch from having my beautiful babies;-) a problem regarding stoma and appliance issues or no prob? Can i still have it placed pretty low, just curious?

I've had two babies plus was about 50 lbs overweight when I went in and they were able to place my stoma below my belly button to the right despite my fluffy belly. They just have to make sure you can see it (ie not on the "downside" of an area so its out of sight), that it won't be in a crease when you sit, etc. and that it will be going through the abdominal muscles. No worries.

Unless you have large skin folds or are extremely overweight it shouldntmatter. Very very important when you go for your marking wearthe clothes you like to wear out. Not comfy sweats. Its like real estate location location location! Ask the et to let you have a bag apply it and fill it with appleauce see how it fits. Make sure when the et marks you you sit and lay down and move all around so you will get the perfect placement. Also make sure your surgeon doesn't give you an innie!

Oh thanks for the answers I wasn't sure it's not a big pooch but I have one! Wasn't sure if that would be an issue, hoping it will all fit under my jeans! All my pants are midway which are just below my belly button..... So what's an innie? ;-)

lol sorry, make sure your stoma sticks out, i think an inch is what its supposed to be (someone else chime in and correct me if that's not right!) sometimes the surgeons will make the stoma really flush with the skin (like an innie bellybutton) or too short then the poo won't go in the bag as easily. It's best to make sure it sticks out.
