I had major problems with gas the nine months I had my bag. My problem was I drank too many soft drinks. Certain foods cause gas too. They make pouches with filters to release the gas but I never had a lot of luck with them.

Is it at night? Or, all the time?
Eating with your mouth
open, drinking with straws and sleeping with your mouth
open all contribute to more are. Soft drinks are bad for gas, too, like Scrap Girl mentioned. Foods are more individual as to how bad the gas is.
I use a pouch with a filter and they work as long as you are standing (gravity) but when you lay down to sleep they will fill with air. They do start working once you get up. Some you the E-Z Vents to expel air and its really just personal preference!
How long have you had your ostomy? Gas can be really bad in the beginning, too, until you start eating real foods.

I use Hollister New Image with a filter and the filter only works for one day and then never works again.
I have found the easiest thing to do is to "burp" the bag.
I just pull the top of the bag loose from the wafer and push all of the air upwards and then close the bag.
Since I have been doing this, I do not have to empty as often since alot of the bulge was just air. :)
