I know I post a lot and I apologize but  I have one more question for today. What tests need to be completed before a Total Colectomy? I know there are some small bowel tests and others that need to be finished to cover all bases. What are these?

I have had Colonoscopy, Sitzmarker, Defecography and am scheduled for a Manometry what else is left?

I think this depends on the person and the situation. All I needed was a colonoscopy.

I was so bad that I did not even have a colonoscopy before my permanent colectomy. I just said to my gastro "I want it done" and he agreed

I had UC for about 30 years kept in full remission with Azulfidine (sulfasalazine). It came back about 2004 when I stopped drinking coffee. I had no idea that caffein and nicotine helped with remission. It would not go back into remission. I suffered with the usual diarrhea and blood for about 3 years trying all medications to no avail. I was very anemic and dehydrated. November 2007, at 63 YO, I had had enough. There was no question it was time.

I didn't notice before that your diagnosis was CI. It's the total, 100% opposite of UC.
