Have a new question. I saw this article in the Phoenix Magazine of ostomates. This woman wrote in that her mom who has a colostomy has issues with bloat and pain and pressure around her stoma. they had tried miralax, gas-x and so on. The only time the woman did not have this feeling was when she was sleeping or lying down.
So far I have no pain, no prolapse, no peristomal hernia, and stool is moving along through my ileostomy stoma, but I do have this pressure feeling right above it and a bit to the left of it, like diagonally from my naval to the stoma. I asked my doc about this and he said "IBS." IBS is disordered peristalisis of the COLON! I'm not even using my colon! I think it is adhesions in the muscle layer.
I have gained 36 lbs since having my ileo when I weighed only 99. I did need to gain, but not that much! Am going to try and drop some lbs and see if less fat around the stoma makes any difference.
Anyone have this same type of pressure around their stoma even if it is working OK?
