Who is your insurance company and did they cover the Colectomy?

Aetna. They say they are covering it, but they keep denying certain things and asking the hospital for more information. As far as take down for the j-pouch, that was all covered.

Aetna as well. Everything was covered, even a private room. The only thing I had to do is "pay" the deductible which was split up between my surgeon and the hospital.
I also owe the anesthesiologist too, but they will get their cut when I'm ready, lol.

Blue Cross and fortunately everything was covered....We paid $56 - two $20 copays for office visits and two $8 meals delivered to his room for me so I didn't have to leave to go get dinner. We are very lucky for sure.

Thanks for the answers. I am with Blue Cross. I just know sometimes insurance companies will not want to pay:(

BTW even though we used a facility and doctors that we knew were covered I made sure beforehand the pre-approval was in place just so there would be no unexpected surprises since this was going to be a very large bill.

Mayo Clinic does get pre-approval for something like this even though we had been using them for 3 years.
