I am 4 weeks post surgery (see sig) and am experiencing a lot of discomfort from discharge from the back passage. It started immediately after surgery and although it has lessened very slightly it is still distressing. It is mainly clear fluid that leaks out whenever it wants and there is also mucous coming out too. Although sometimes it does give me the urge to have a BM, I still barely have any control over it and have been caught out many a time. The fluid is very 'hot' and irritates my skin horribly. It is a constant problem and leaks out most of the time 24/7.
Having spent the majority of the last month in hospital for surgery and then dehydration/high stoma output, this added problem is upsetting me and making me very sore. Whilst I was there they did do a couple of investigations, unfortunately there was some differing opinions between the surgical team and the gastro team as to the cause. The gastro team want me to have a scan to ensure there is no fluid build up somewhere, and the surgical team (who did an internal investigation into the pouch and all was fine) just want to leave it. They told me I would have to put up with it until I have the 2nd op to remove the bag, they said it is just the 'unused' part of the intestine/pouch getting frustrated because it is not being worked.
I don't know whether this has anything to do with it or not but I am having increased mucous and clear fluid from the 'closed off' part of my intestine that sits next to my stoma.
Any thoughts or opinions would be great, thanks!
