For those with UC/Chron's who've have an illeostomy/jpouch/other type pouch:

1) Did you have history of dandruff or othe r similar problems?

2) Did you have history of yeast infections?

3) Did you have history of skin conditions?

I voted for dandruff, but I've actually had all three.


While I was really sick with Crohn's I had dandruff, flaking of the scalp, dermatitis of the scalp, and bad hair loss. That has gotten better since the ostomy (thank god!)

Now that I HAVE my ostomy, I've been experiencing chronic yeast infections under my wafer for about 8 months...really frustrating and can't figure out how to get rid of them.

I have psoriasis but didn't get it until about 25 years after my ileo surgery!

No dandruff, no yeast infections but I did have dry skin ezcema which completely went away. I'm not sure if it went away prior to my jpouch surgery or after but I no longer suffer from it.

Interesting comments so far...I had "dandruff" when I was a kid (started at about 12 years).....when I went to a skin doctor a few years ago he said I had "Seborric Dermatitis" or something like that (reason for red skin on my face).......also, I guess due to pred, he said I showed signs of some little yeast that likes the hairy areas and my body was suseptible due to pred...anyway, looks like my hair on head has never been treated for the yeast, thus resulting in inflammation, thus resulting in hair loss....so, will be getting anti-fungal shampoo for scalp.  Though that apparently has been going on for a long, long, time....

i've had a few yeast infections, i had more problems with thrush while on anitbiotics
i have some kind of somethign wrong with my hands, ive been to all kinds of drs and noone knows what it is, it started about a month after my UC started. it has lessened some after surgery, but i still have it.
and i have had odd spots on my skin that turn white, i'm pretty dark skinned, and i get random spots where my skin almost looks bleached. i've had that for years, as long as i can remember.
while i was on pred, i would get odd dark spots that just popped up, but they quit after i stopped the pred.

it's common for psorasis to go along with UC or other AI diseases.

the white spots? hopefully the don't go all over that would totally ruin my tan!
