Just wanted to follow-up with everyone!
Nanci-how is your grandmother doing? I hope she is doing a little bit better!
Mary-do you come on here anymore? I assume you are going great!
Ali-Yeah, I don't think you will have any problems after your surgery. You have been, I think, numerous tests and doctors before this was even scheduled. So, I think you are well prepared. Your Christmas wish will be coming true!
Hodaya-how is everything going? You decided to be a dental assistant, right? You will be great at it! I am sure the most nerve-wracking part is schooling again and the finances to make it through. I know I deal with finances everyday now!
As for me, I still deal with a lot of gas that is either stuck in me, or finally, it will come out after hours. I still take milk of magnesia to try and get my best bowel movements. I usually try to walk around in the morning to help stimulate myself (other times it comes out okay). Other times, I take the heating pad, or I squat down to the floor, relax right before I get in the shower to help.
However, we have discovered why I have had left abdomen pain all these years, too, like I mentioned. I just think it is sad that is seemed my stomach gotten worse after surgery. I did read up on gastroparesis, and it said abdomen surgery could be a cause. I think it just baffles my surgeon why my stomach got worse after surgery. I am getting scared about my health because most days it is a struggle to eat. Some days I am just so nausea all the time, I can take a few bites of food or just smell food, and get sick. I become very indecisive on what on want to eat. Other times, I can put a little more food in me, and then I am proud of myself. I am just ready for a non-bloat, non-gassy, pain-free day! I make supper my main meal in case I have to feel really sick, nausea, or burping because I know I am at home for the rest of night! Then, I can try to go to bed, and hopefully, sleep it off.
Doctor's office called me on Friday. We found Walgreen's to have a discounted price for the medicine they wanted to try me on, ethromycin. I tried to pick it up yesterday, but they were out, so the pharmacist said they would call me tormorrow, Monday when they get it! The nurse said my surgeon, and that gi doctor I met discussed my case. I guess they are hoping the medicine will help somewhat. I think they are most concerned about my nutrition right now!
When I faxed them those papers last week, about other gi doctors in bigger cities, like Chicago (the one my co-worker talked about), they are going to work on setting me up. Better to do it now because it can take a long time to get an appt. However, they are going to call around St. Louis, too because it is closer to me. I think they are trying to find a good doctor, and one that does that gastric pacemaker surgery, so I could have a consult about it to find out more!
So, right now, it is still just day-by-day seeing how things go! I am ready to be stronger, instead of weaker. Hopefully, social security will come through, etc. I love ya all very much, and have a great Sunday!
