Hey Guys. You guys have helped me out a tonne with questions and concerns I have. I just recently started using sure seals and I have to say I absolutely LOVE them. I feel way more confident with them on. I usually get 5-6 days out of my wafer with them on and it's wonderful. On change day though i have to use a lot of adhesive wipes to get the sure seal off (totally worth the pain in the butt to take off btw) and usually the day that i change by that night underneath my sure seal and wafer sticky part gets so itchy. I'm wondering if anyone else has had issues like that before. Im thinking that maybe its the adhesive wipes. I used to use the Smith&Nephew REMOVE adhesive wipes but didnt like them because they felt yuckie but i was never itchy with them as far as i can remember. When i got the sure seals i switched to the All Kare wipes because thats the brand the hospital gave me as samples but didnt use them enough to know if they were causing irritation. I'm probably rambling and making absolutely no sence. But basically to sum it up i'd like to know if anyone has had itching under the sure seal before and they think it is caused by the sure seal itself or if you think its the wipes that could be causing the itching. I'm going to talk to my Ostomy nurse before next change day and see if she can suggest using different wipes or maybe go back to using the smith&nephew wipes and see if they make a difference with the itching.
Any feedback would be great. Because i would absolutly hate to stop using the sure seals. ive been using them now for about
three weeks and like i said I feel much more confident with them. Not worried about
leaks and i can shower a bajillion times easier.
Also the skin around my stoma looks a little yuckie. Its all red and looks like its peeling from my skin about
a half inch all the way around my stoma. It doesnt hurt... it just looks not very good. I've thought about
using the powder on that part but I've heard that the mouldable wafer doesnt stick well when theres paste. Could stoma paste be causing it? I tend to use a lot because i have a little bit of a retracted stoma so i use paste around the outside of it to ensure no leaks get through. I see my surgeon soon for my 3 month check up on the 28th (technically my three months will be July 19th) but close enough lol) and ill mention it to him. Im gonna take pictures the next time i change because taking it off and changing at the doctors office just to show him would be a pain i think.
Anyway thanks you guys for listening. I know I ramble. I just like to get as many different opinions as possible before going to the ostomy nurse.
