Heidi,

I just looked at your ostomy outdoors site again, and it's great that so many people are visiting. Congrats -- great thing you're doing!

I am going to be in Colorado July 16-25. For the first part of the trip we're visiting my partner's family in the Four Corners area, but then we're going to drive up to Denver for a few days -- probably the 21st-23rd. Wondering if you're interested in getting together, like some of the other folks on the list have done.... sounds fun, if it works out.... Are you leading any not very strenuous nature hikes then (not sure if you lead that type)?

My partner and her 16 year old daughter go to visit their family every summer Four years ago I was going to go but ended up in the hospital the whole time. The last three years I've gone, but I've hardly seen any of the sites -- we were going to go to Mesa Verde last year (near where my partner grew up) but I ended up not being up to it (but I did go to an ER for fluids that trip, and still had a great time, despite being sick -- it's so gorgeous, especially for someone who has always lived in the midwest or the east).

So, I'm excited to (hopefully) be healthier this year and to get to see more of Colorado. It's a bit scary to be so far from my doctors, but I have my surgeon's and nurse's strong endorsement, even though my wound will probably not be healed all the way.

Hi Blueglass,

It would be great to meet up! Your visit is right in the middle of a very busy week schedule-wise for me as I have some other friends from out-of-state visiting around that time too, but the evening of Friday, July 22nd after work would most definitely work. I am not leading any public hikes that week, just many for school kids:), so that wouldn't be a possibility. We could still go for our own short, easy hike in one of the many local parks though. It is very nice outside in the evenings here. Or if that didn't work, meet up for coffee, tea or bite to eat... or whatever. You can email me at [email protected] and we can set something up.

Glad your surgeon and nurse want you to get out. That is how mine were. They really encouraged me to not sit around and to get back to my life and work... even when I had my crazy wound. Traveling is so good for our well-being and confidence.
