I use one called Biochem Sports, 100% whey protein powdered mix. It comes in Chocolate, Vanilla and Berry. You can get it at Whole Foods if you have that store... it is a little pricey but a container makes a lot of protein shakes. I like the vanilla the best, but the other two are good too. I was a little sensitive to milk right after surgery (I no longer am) so I began making it with soy milk, but cow milk works great too. You could use almond or rice milk, but they don't have as much protein. It says you can make it with water, but I never tried that. There are other brands too, but I am on a gluten free diet, so this is the one I ended up going with. I also tried a brand called Iron-tek, but didn't like it as much. I am sure it is a matter of personal preference. Any of the 100% whey ones should be good protein-wise. I also like to toss in a banana and some ice cubes and then blend it all up in this Ninja blender machine I got at Costco. I still drink one every day even at 7 months post-op as my weight and muscle strength has been slow to return.
