Hi everyone. I had my colon removed 3 weeks and 1 day ago. I was hoping to feel better after the surgery but I feel like I traded one pain for another. They think it might be gas. It hurts so much. Pressure and sometimes burning under my diaphragm and lower. Has anyone experienced this and will it go away? Please help.

Is there nausea and does the pain come in waves that take your breath away. This would be an early adhesion small bowel obstruction OR post op ileus. Are you able to eat and drink without horrific pain? Rosemary

I'm sorry you are having problems and I really hope its nothing to worry about. It could be anything as Rosemary said but it does sound a bit too severe for wind. I would take myself off to the hospital if it doesn't improve soon. Please keep us posted and once this is sorted out I know you will be happy with your new life as an ostomate, it really does get better with time.

You might be misundersanding gas. During surgery gas is in injected into the abdomen. If any is left in after the surgery it is painful. Strangely enough the gas will migrate through your body and exit at your shoulders. That is what I experienced and that is what I was told. It only took a few days to dissipate. Your time seems extreme, but maybe.........

I am also new here as I had a subtotal colectomy three weeks ago. I, too, am experiencing a lot of what feels like gas pains, bloating, and a feeling of burning just below my diaphragm and lower. This is a new development in the past four or five days. Has this gotten any better since your last post? Have you or anyone with the same symptoms found anything that has helped?
