Hi everyone,
I haven't been on here again in a little while. I had a left hemicolectomy in Feb. for constipation, but did not help! Then, I had my total colectomy on June 2nd, then emergency surgery on June 9th for colon inertia (hematoma in abdomen; couldn't go to the bathroom again!).
Well, things still aren't perfect, but I try to keep on plugging along each week. I have one question for everyone. I have introduced a few foods back into my diet again, but did anyone still experience some gas and bloating after the surgery. Of course, I have been through 3 surgeries this year! It feels like sometimes my intestines are in overdrive, gurgling a lot until I can let out some gas or have a very good bowel movement. Is it just because I am still short out of surgery? I know I have read on several posts and sites that it can take 6 months to a year to feel completely normal again. However, like I mentioned, things aren't perfect right now either. I am still trying to take stool softners or magnesium to help with bm's because I get pressure down at the bottom to have bm's, but they are hard to do at times; my anal muscles are weak. My goal is to feel really good by the end of the year! I start biofeedback with the PA at my surgeon's office on August 18th hoping that will help! I appreciate any feedback! Thanks everyone!! =)
