small cut in stoma tissue

some advice please - i have a couple of small incisions in my stoma tissue which is bleeding a little - the location is just where the top meets the vertical sides - its is not sore and only bleeding a little but i am wondering if the fact that the cut will be in touch with output will cause infection or inflammation -- ? has anyone suffered a cut on the stoma & ? did it heal of its own accord ??? any help please.

I have left a message with my stoma nurse but its saturday evening & no response yet.

how did it happen, good question - I was heading out this afternoon with my girlfriend to drive to a forest walk nearby when driving thru a crossroad with full right of way, a car sped out of a minor road without slowing & rammed us square on the drivers (my) side - luckily noone was injured badly - just lots of bruising - thank god for airbags - both cars are write-offs - unfortunalety its my girlfriends 1 year old car, we have loads of insurance but really not a great day !!!!!

Without seeing it, I think you should be fine. Think about all of the people who get fissures in their intestines with IBD. It's not ideal but I think you'll be ok. Wait to hear from your stoma nurse. Glad to hear you're ok otherwise!!

I've seen minor cuts and they healed just fine.. and pretty quickly!

Sorry to hear about the accident, but glad everyone is okay! Your stoma should be fine. I sliced mine once with my fingernail while cleaning the skin around it. It bled for a little while, but healed up just fine. That was smart of you to call the stoma nurse, just in case.

thanks all for your replies - my stoma nurse agrees with you - we're a bit battered and bruised here today but glad to have been able to walk away from a nasty one - hopefully thats the bad luck for the year out of the way.

Glad you had airbags and are OK, but what a drag! I hope that is all your bad luck for a long while....

Villager...OMG...we were t-boned 10 weeks after hubby's surgery in our 6 day old car with 157 miles on it. No serious injuries with us or the other car.

So happy you are ok and nobody else was seriously hurt. Make sure in the next day or so if you or your girlfriend don't feel right that you get medical attention.

It is certainly a hassle and pain when there is an accident sorting out all the paperwork, police, insurance and expenses etc. But the main focus does have to be on the fact everyone walked away from it which is not always the case.
