I have two questions:

1. Can disposable wipes be used to clean a stoma?

2. In the first month, which foods should be avoided and which can be digested without trouble?

Hi RSW,

Yes, you can use disposable wipes to clean the skin area around your stoma. Just be aware that some of them have perfumes and alcohol in them that can be drying or irritating to the skin.

As for diet restrictions, it depends greatly on what type of stoma you have. If you have a colostomy and still have most of your colon, there aren't any diet restrictions at all.

Cleaning around the stoma area yes But not the stoma itself.
I only use warm water in the shower to clean mine. I use one of the hand held shower heads with low water pressure to clean the stoma, and very careful at that but it works great for me.
