Well, the PET scan went just fine. I even got to use a bathroom with a "warning: radioactive materials" sign on the door. For some sick reason that cracked me up. My life just gets weirder and weirder.
I saw my oncologist this morning, and he told me that nothing showed up that we didn't already know about. Well, except that now my rectum is showing up as having cancer, not just atypical cells. I was really expecting that anyway. It has taken so long to get everything scheduled in the first place, and then the whole liver thing popped up. But since I was planning on having the rectum out anyway, this doesn't really change anything. I just wish we could get the surgery over with already! So, anyway, what glowed on the PET scan was my liver, my spleen and my rectum. All small spots. What's mystifying the oncologist is that the liver biopsies didn't come back as liver cancer. So he doesn't know what is up with that. I'm seeing a surgeon in Baltimore at U of MD Hospital who did my colectomy last summer. I'm not sure if my surgery will be there, or here locally. Local would be easier on all of us, but the liver and spleen complicate things, so it might have to be moved to Balto. Yay. Whatever works.
I am just so thankful that nothing else showed up!!! I was really afraid they would find something inoperable this time.
Thanks for all of the prayers and well wishes! I love this board, and I'm really glad I found you all!
