Byrams also sends samples. I like the convatech stomahesive wafer and the bag that rolls up and velcros. It also has another security flap that velcros after that. I use Eakin Slims the little donut to go around the stoma prior to putting on the wafer, i think these are the sticky rings you refer to. I also have stomahesive powder for burns that often form just under the stoma where the effluent comes out. You put a bit of that on prior to the eakin slim then the wafer. I assemble the see through bag and the wafer prior to putting it on as with convatech it takes a mighty push to put it on and sort of hurts, especially post op that would not be too good. BUT if you do have to do the wafer first and then push the ring on the bag onto the ring on the wafer, then putting a bit of ivory soap on the ring of the bag makes it click onto the ring on the wafer MUCH easier with less pushing.
The Hollister 2 piece seems to click on much easier than does the convatec, but I just like the convatec better. You may also benefit for an adhesive wipe that is put on prior to putting the eakin and the wafer on. The All Care protective wipe is good and so is Safe and Simple. The safe and simple has no alcohol in it if the All Care disagrees with your skin. This puts a little layer of shellack on your skin so it increases wear time and protects your skin. I use Unisolve adhesive removers to remove the wafer. Don't forget, when removing the wafer to change, don't forget to press your skin away from it rather than peeling the wafer from the skin. I'm sure they showed you this. Rosemary
