diclofenac after collectomy?

diclofeanc is a non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug, and I've taken it in the past for othopedic pain, like back, neck and knees. But UC is a definite contra-indication, because it could make UC worse or trigger a flare.

What I'm wondering, is now that I no longer have a colon, can I take it for pain? The UC is still there, it just doesn't have its main target any more. I am afraid if I take the diclofenac, then my remaining rectum will become inflammed and  become a complication for the next two surgeries.

Anyone know anything about it?

I'd say ask your gi doc.

Although, I sometimes take naproxen, another NSAID, for menstrual cramps, and I had stopped that because my ibd was too bad..... but I figured it was fine after my surgery, and didn't ask my gi doc.... depends on how often you're taking it, I'd think (originally my first gi doc said that it was no big deal to take occasionally for menstrual cramps....but then the disease got too bad for me....)

But I had my rectum removed too, so might be different for you....

Thanks Bluegrass. I can write him an email but usually he only respond if urgent like if symtomS get worse. And doesnt care that my knees hurt because it is not his turf. That is what he would say.
Writing from phone is such a pain.

Bluegrass thNks. I just wrote from phone but it didnt post. My gi answers only urgent mails. More when i have internet. Am settli g into a world of cartons and loving ma new place!

Yes, my gi doc is like that too .... but the nurses are pretty good about getting back.
