Received a sample of convatec pouches with a replaceable filter. Looks like it would work. The pouch has a drain at the bottom that is a short tube with a cap on the end. Looks more like it's for a urostomy but it is not. Instruction says it is for watery stoma output. Or you can cut off the end to eliminate the tube. Very strange.

Along with my order is a flyer about underwear for ostamates. Men and women. (yes they are different) The flyer says that all of their employees have ostomies!  Their web address is www.ostomysecrets.com .

What product number is the new pouch, also can you use it with the mouldable flanges?

I ordered a few pairs of the Ostomy Secret underwear just before we left for the hospital last December and they were in our mail after we got back. My husband preferred them right away over using his usual BVDs he wore all these years. At the time we were thinking he would only need them for about 4 months as he was anticipating a j-pouch process.

The extra panel which allows the pouch to sit in and not rest against his skin (especially living here in Florida) also offers support for the pouch if it gets a little heavy with volume and keeps it feeling more secure he feels.

Since it turned out to be a permanent ileostomy.....We lucked out as I took a shot on ebay and found a liquidator and got him a bunch of them for cheap and they were all new in sealed packages. They are pricey.. I wish they could be a little more affordable so people who would like to get them could and not be so concerned with the cost.

I think you may be the one also with friends/relatives here in The Villages? We can also make arrangements hopefully to get to meet next time you are in the area.

The convatec number is 401557. It fits a 1 3/4 inch wafer (two piece). The samples are much larger than what I use. They are high output. The replaceable filter looks ok but the large size is not for me. Also these are opaque. I wear clear pouches. I want to see that I get the pouch clean. I will probably try one but I am not sold.

I appreciate the offer but I am happy with what I wear.......tighty whities. I wear the pouch outside my whities so there is no skin contact. The weight does not concern me. My Convatec wafers have never come loose.
Yes, I have relatives in The Villages. We plan to be there a few days the end of January on the way to Cocoa Beach. Yes, we need to meet while we are there. I met NascaRon September 1. He was on the way to Pennsylvania and stopped by to visit.

We will be here the end of January...we are booked for that last weekend Jan 28 and 29 ... so if it is before or after those days we should definitely meet. Your last visit here hubby was early into his recuperation from his surgery so I did not pursue it.
