Has anyone tried deodorant tablets?

I've been using Hollister M9 drops in my pouch for years, but they are expensive. I was just about to buy another case online for $135, when I saw a bottle of 135 Nullo Deodorant Tablets for only $20. It says that each tablet contains 100mg of a Chlorophyll Copper Complex, which eliminates body odors, including ostomy odors. Has anyone tried anything like this and did it work for you?

I tried the devko tablets in the hospital, and they didn't work at all, but I haven't tried the ones you mentioned.

Have you tried the hydrogen peroxide? For me it works better than the M9 drops, and it's really cheap (I've found 2 for one sales where I got two 32 oz bottles for $1.99 -- equiv to 8 bottles of M9).

I tried a bottle of Devrom (I think that's the name) that a friend used and raved about...I didn't really see much of a difference but I really believe things work differently for each of us that we have to try them ourselves to know.

check out www.medicalmega.com they have them for $15 ish and I've found their prices the best on things my insurance doesn't cover (even w/paying shipping they're cheapest)

I have a bottle of OSTO GEL TABS. I got them for our trip to England. It is a bottle of 180 tabs. Not cheap.  Most are broken in pieces. They are supposed to make liquid output into a gel and deodorize. They are brittle and dusty. Hard to use. The bottle has a package of  silica to combat moisture. Cannot carry them with you. Totally useless. I don't use them.

Blueglass ~ I've used hydrogen peroxide, which is a great deodorizer and is affordable, but it bubbles up so much for me that it makes my pouch puff up with a lot of air. I use it in a pinch, but prefer the M9 drops, since they don't do that.

Anne ~ Thanks for the tip on the Devrom oral tablets. I bought a bottle of Nullo online last night and will let you know if they work.

Dan ~ I've never tried Osto Gel Tabs, but thanks for the tip.

Cece, I use the devrom tablets. They work 80% of the time on controlling odors. For some reason with this end ileostomy, I have a much worse odor problem than I had with my loop ileostomy. Not sure why, but it is driving me crazy. I have m9 drops, but they do not work that great for me. I have tried hydrogen peroxide, aspirin, and many other odor eliminators that you place in your bag and none of them work???? Have you ever heard of this happening?

Odors going to the bathroom is one of my top embarrassing things. I do the M9 drops and then Hydrogen peroxide sometimes. they both usually work. If you get blue stuff outside the bag it's a mess and yes the hydrogen peroxide does puff up the bag, especially over night.

I'm very interested how the pills work. let use all know if you use them. Good luck!

The stoma nurse I had in the hospital had an ostomy herself, and told me she used Altoids for odor. At first I was like, yea, right, the last thing I want besides smelling like poop is smelling like minty poop. But I gave it a try, and they do work pretty well to cut back the odor. I use peppermint ones, lol. Has anyone ever heard of/used "Just a Drop"? My sister had some at her house awhile ago, and I used it during a UC flare (which can be pretty smelly, too, as you may know). It seemed to work; you put "just a drop" of it in the toilet before you go, or, in this case, empty, and it makes a shield that blocks odor.

Answers4me ~ Glad to hear the Devrom tablets work pretty well. I'm not sure why the M9 and other things don't work for you. It seems that we're all different, so it's trial and error to find out what works best.

Ju330 ~ I've heard of putting Tic Tacs in the pouch, so it makes sense that Altoids would work, too. I'll pick some up at the store the next time I'm there. I've never heard of "just a drop" and will look into it, too. Thanks for the tips!

Trigirl ~ The pills haven't arrived in the mail yet, but as soon as I try them, I'll keep you posted on how they work. From what I read, they're supposed to help remove all body odors, so even hunters use them to make them "scent free" when out in the woods. If they work, I know what I'm getting my brother for Christmas! :-) (he loves to hunt)

Wow, so you don't need to use deodorant anymore with those pills? Think of the money you'll save there.....

I tried tic tacs, didn't work at all for me.... never tried altoids.

I'm still waiting to get the pills, so in the meantime, I've been doing some research on them. Did you know that body odor is caused by bacteria waste that's in and on our body? I found that to be gross, but fascinating. These tablets contain chlorophyll and copper, which neutralize the odor from the bacteria waste. If you look at the ingredients for M9 drops, they contain copper, as well.

I also found out that you can take two tablets a day orally OR put a pill in your pouch, and it will also deodorize that way. I told my brother (the hunter) about them, and he's going to try them, too.

It also said that it might take a few days for them to work orally, so I'll keep you posted! :-)

Interesting, thanks.

I've felt like I have less body odor since my surgery, but I'm not sure if that's due to other reasons or not....but it is something I noticed. Pouch odor is another thing.....

Okay, so the deodorant pills arrived a few days ago, and I started taking them orally. Didn't help the pouch odor. Then, I tried putting one tablet (then two) into the pouch, still didn't help. This morning, I put 10 tablets into water in an 8 ounce squirt bottle. After they dissolved, I squirted some of the liquid into the pouch. Voila, no odor!! :-) Just wanted to fill you guys in on how they're working for me.
