Anyone Ever Order From Ostostore.com? Other Online Supply Order Recommendations?

With my surgery and 2 other hospital stays this year, my insurance has been paying 100% for my ostomy supplies through Edgepark.  

Come Jan 2012, I am on my own until I meet the $750 deductible and then they will pay 80%.

I know I have seen Mega Medical mentioned as a less expensive place to purchase.  I have compared them to Ostostore and Osto is a little cheaper and have a flat rate of 8.50 for shipping.  I could not find a shipping rate for Mega other than free over $400.

Anyone familiar with Ostostore?  I searched and could not find any negative comments, but you never know.

Others I have seen are St. Louis Medical, Best Buy Ostomy, Total Home Care, My Medi Mart, Jrs Medical, Quality Medical, to name a few.

Any feedback on those suppliers?

I don't understand your intent. If you don't order through your insurance you will never meet the $750 deductible. You will continue paying 100% instead of 20% after you meet the deductible.

Hubby and I are still trying to figure out whether it would be cheaper to just purchase them ourselves from Osto or Mega or pay the higher amount to Edgepark and build the deductible.   I was hoping to avoid getting even near $750 next year with the current year I have had with tests, doctors, hospitals, etc.   Probably very unrealistic on my part.

I don't understand the process, yet.   My last Edgepark order was $900+ and our insurance only had to pay $250 or so of that amount.   Does that mean I would only have to pay the same lesser amount if I were ordering on my own?  The prices on Edgepark's website are anywhere from double to triple the amounts on Osto or Mega.

Any insight is appreciated :)

Edgepark's listed prices are kind of meaningless, as they have negotiated agreements with the insurance companies to charge less for things. You have to ask someone at Edgepark how much the various supplies that you order actually cost for you.

I just don't understand why supplies are not treated like prescriptions as we need our supplies to survive confused

Well, in a way they are treated like prescriptions -- different copays depending on your insurance, ridiculously high "base" prices, over charging etc...

Yeah, what edgepark charges, and what the insurance company pays are two different things..a silly game and the "yokes" on us...

I had an issue w/edgepark here in Florida..I'm going to give another supplier a try...

Ostostore.com was started by a WOC nurse in Atlanta named Cynthia Timms primarily to help individuals with limited or no insurance obtain ostomy supplies at the lowest prices available. Ostostore.com will sell supplies to anyone, of course, including pharmacies, home health agencies etc.   Ostostore.com is owned by Neutralez LLC and has been selling online for almost four years now.
