I'm thankful for my stoma.

For my permanent stoma, Lillie, who gave me back my life.   Oh yeah, and for the rest of my family :)

Also, very thankful for all the folks on this board.  I found so much info and support here during my decision making and surgery.   You guys rock !!!

I'm thankful for my stoma, which gave me my life back and the ability to eat whatever I want, so I can enjoy Thanksgiving dinner again! I'm also thankful for my family and friends, especially you all, who are so wonderful and supportive. Wishing you a happy and blessed Thanksgiving!

I don't have a stoma (anymore) but I am thankful for my J pouch! After suffering with UC for so long, it's nice to be able to eat and enjoy food again! Hope everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving! :)

I'm thankful for having my husband be healthy after his surgery on 10/31/11 and my beautiful baby daughter. I'm thankful that there is medical procedures available to give my husband back his life. Thus giving us our lives back as a family. We had an awesome Thanksgiving dinner and for the first time in 18 years, my hubby could eat and not be running to the bathroom!

I'm thankful for all of you...you guys are so strong!

I'm thankful to God for giving us strength and faith.

I don't eat turkey, but I made a lasagna yesterday, with fresh pasta, broccoli, spinach, cheese etc.... so yummy, and I couldn't have eaten anything like it last year. It was also nice to be able to cook -- probably the most active day for me since my last surgery. Tiring, but good. Very thankful!

blueglass....that is a nice kind of tired to be from doing something you enjoy instead of the fatigue you all suffered with dealing with the UC.

We have a dear friend also dealing with this and afraid to say she probably should have surgery but she isn't in that "place" yet and be it far from me to suggest it. She knows about this site and has come here but kind of overwhelming for her. She has asked a few in depth questions here and there about my husband and I respond with the info she has asked for without going overboard. She will be trying the Remicade next if this higher dose of drugs with prednisone doesn't work which it doesn't seem to be and then she will go from there. In the meantime I hate to see her suffer so....but nothing different than what most everyone does until she makes up her mind. We were out Tues. night and my heart really broke for her.

What I am amazed at is the number of people out there suffering with IBS type situations the more and more I hear about it.

I'm thankful for my stoma too! :) And for my health! I'm now healthy enough to work a good job, and will be moving into a new house I just bought next week! Never could have done that without Zoe :)

I completely understand!!! I told my husband that if I needed to work, I could actually do it now!!! Up till now, I have not even been able to think about getting any kind of job...unless perhaps it was only cleaning bathrooms!!! LOL

I'm so thankful for my family. The past few months especially, they have been such a blessing. And I'm thankful to live in a place where I'm able to have these surgeries to bring me back to health! I remember last year's Thanksgiving... I ate one little plate and the rest of the day I was in and out of the bathroom and laying on the couch in pain. This year was wonderful!! I'm just glad to have been given another chance to live a full and happy life. Oh, and thanks to all of you on this site for the encouragement, words of wisdom, etc. It has helped so much during this process!

Something really good happened this Thanksgiving... my mom invited her best friend (who also has an ileostomy due to UC) and she and I sat next to each other and toasted giving thanks for our health. It was really meaningful. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
