In answer to your questions in my last post....a regular family physician drained this "boil"...a very young physician.
I don't have a GI doctor. I quit my GI doctor of twelve years because he would not support my decision to have the operation. All he wanted to do was try more and more meds even after 6MP, Remicade and Humira all failed and I was prednisone dependent for two years. When the resident surgeon phoned him to ask what my usual prednisone taper was, my former GI doctor never inquired about my condition. I asked my surgeon if I had to be seen by a GI doctor and he said only if I had upper GI problems. So far, so good.
Yes, you are correct, I was diagnosed with proctitis, not Crohn's. But, my cocky former GI doctor, when I told him I decided to have the operation, said to me..."Fine, what if you have the operation and then have the problems in you small intestine?" He said that with his usual sarcastic smirk on his face. I said, "Are you saying now that I have Crohn's Disease and for twelve years, numerous colonoscopies, YOU always told me I had ulcerative proctitis???" Another reason I will not return to him.
